Like single socks, mate-less mittens aren’t much good for keeping you warm and covered. Don’t throw them out, though—just put them to use as protective cases for your eyewear. Sure, they won’t keep them from getting bent or broken, but they’re perfect for stashing in a glovebox or drawer.

Pick up a couple of those handy gadgets designed to keep gloves attached to coat sleeves, then simply clip the mitten-case to the inside of your backpack or purse for easy grabbing. (If you lost one, you probably could have used some coat-sleeve clips a little sooner, so maybe you’ll want to grab two.) If your new eyeglass case gets dirty, simply toss it in the washing machine with your laundry.

Got your own favorite way to repurpose a solitary mittens? Talk about it in the comments.
