Migrate TweetDeck Settings to Another PC [Adobe AIR]

23 Apr/09

The Online Tech Tips blog writes up how to migrate your TweetDeck settings from one PC to another, but the same principles should work for many applications based on the Adobe AIR platform.

The popular and previously mentioned TweetDeck Twitter client, like many Adobe AIR applications, doesn’t let you import or export your settings for re-use on another computer. The Online Tech Tips guide walks you through finding the hidden application folder for TweetDeck and copying the files to another machine—the path for Windows users is usually found at:

C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataTweetDeckFast.[large number]Local Store

To migrate the settings, you can simply copy the files in the folder to the equivalent folder on the other machine—which should, in theory, also work to migrate from Windows to Linux or Mac (though the paths will be different). The same principles work for many other applications that store their data under the hidden Application Data folder—you can usually just copy the files from one machine to another.
