Toolbars are not necessarily installed as standalone applications these days. Toolbar developers have established business relationships with software developers to include their toolbars in the software installer. Users who do not pay close attention to the installation process may inadvertently end up with one or multiple toolbars installed on their system.
Legit toolbar providers, like Google, Ask or AOL usually ensure that their toolbars can be uninstalled via the software uninstallation menu, most of the time without affecting the software that it was installed together with.
But then again, it still might take some time to clean a system of all toolbars that are installed on it. That’s where the Multi Toolbar Remover comes into play. The portable software program can remove nine different toolbars in one go, among them the Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, AOL Toolbar, Comcast Toolbar and ASK Toolbar.
The program is compatible with all versions of the supported toolbars. A user needs to check the installed toolbars in the list of supported ones to uninstall them from the system.
It is recommended to close all web browser windows before the process, to avoid complications due to files being in use.
Multi-Toolbar Remover might not be the right tool for users with one toolbar installed, but it can speed up the process on systems with multiple ones installed. It might also be helpful in cases where a toolbar cannot be uninstalled via its own uninstaller. We ran into some uninstallation troubles on our Windows 7 64-bit system.
An alternative to this program is the Smart Toolbar Remover, which offers several advantages. For starters, it detects the installed toolbars and offers to uninstall them, so that toolbars that are not installed are not shown in the program interface. The application seems to support additional toolbars that the Multi-Toolbar Remover does not. Then again, it needs to be installed.
Then again, most computer users may prefer full control over the installation process and use a software like Revo Uninstaller instead to make sure that all traces of the toolbars are removed from the system.
